About

Smart Green Spaces: Integrating Urban Agriculture and Digital Education 2024-1-BG01-KA220-SCH-000244111 is an Erasmus+ project designed to create an innovative learning environment where students explore the intersection of technology and nature. By integrating digital education with hands-on urban agriculture, we aim to foster eco-consciousness and equip young learners with essential STEM skills.

Our Vision

In a rapidly urbanizing world, reconnecting students with nature is more important than ever. Through Smart Green Spaces, we inspire the next generation to embrace sustainability by blending environmental education with digital tools. Our project encourages students to take an active role in shaping a greener future.

What We Do

  • Interactive Digital Learning – We develop engaging digital platforms that teach students about sustainable urban agriculture, technology, and environmental science.
  • Smart Garden Systems – Schools will implement sensor-based gardening solutions, allowing students to monitor and maintain urban green spaces using smart technology.
  • Teacher Training & Workshops – Educators receive hands-on training to integrate digital and environmental education into their classrooms.
  • International Collaboration – Partnering with schools across Europe, we promote knowledge exchange and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Our Impact

  • Empowering Students – Enhancing digital literacy, environmental awareness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Innovative Learning – Introducing a unique approach that combines theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
  • Community Engagement – Encouraging schools and local communities to participate in sustainable practices.

Our Partners

The project is led by Robotika Academy (Bulgaria) in collaboration with schools from Romania, Greece, and North Macedonia. Together, we are developing educational solutions that inspire students to become environmentally responsible digital citizens.

What does the project represent?

This project demonstrates how simple programming and basic electronics can solve real-world problems, specifically ensuring your plants stay perfectly hydrated. Using a micro:bit as its brain, the system continuously monitors the soil’s moisture level with a soil moisture sensor. When the soil becomes too dry, the micro:bit automatically activates a small water pump, providing just the right amount of water. Once the optimal moisture level is reached, the pump intelligently switches off.

Key features of this project include:

Introduction to IoT Concepts: This project is a fantastic hands-on introduction to how sensors collect data and how devices can be programmed to react to their environment, forming the basic principles of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Automated Irrigation: No more guessing when to water! The system takes care of your plant’s needs.

Water Conservation: By watering only when necessary, we minimize water waste, promoting sustainable practices.
